Planning Has Begun for the Ready to Run® Delaware Program

Planning is underway for Delaware ERANow’s “Ready to Run® Delaware” program in association with the Eagleton Institute’s Center for American Women in Politics (CAWP) of Rutgers University. Nationally recognized and praised, CAWP’s Ready to Run® programs have prepared women in fifteen states for greater involvement in the political process, including running for local, state, and federal office.

The 80/20 gap of men vs. women legislators across the country must be reduced for women to achieve true empowerment. Graduates of Ready to Run® programs who subsequently choose to run for elective office have demonstrated a 70% success rate. Ready to Run® Delaware, tailored specifically to the state’s needs, will build on this success by providing the skills and knowledge needed for participants to seek elective office at the local, state, and federal level, preparing  them for greater involvement in the state’s political parties, and positioning them  for  appointment to boards and commissions.

Delaware ERANow is pleased to have Delaware Law School as a partner in the Ready to Run® Delaware program, along with the collaboration of Mary Ann’s List whose members will bring considerable knowledge and experience in Delaware politics.

The Ready to Run® program is an important educational component of Delaware ERANow’s Women’s Equality & Empowerment Fund. Fundraising for the program, as well as final planning, will continue through the spring, followed by participant recruitment.
